Jean Hickey

Jean Hickey is a highly skilled special educator and has worked as an educational therapist, academic tutor and educational consultant for over 25 years. She has experience teaching students with a variety of complex learning needs, including learning disabilities, ADD, Autism, Fragile X, Down Syndrome, Visual Cortical Blindness and Cerebral Palsy. Jean’s extensive background, ongoing training, and experience has provided her with the skills to support academic skill development using a variety of evidence-based interventions.  

 

In addition to tutoring, Jean is available to conduct school observations, review, develop and revise Individualized Education Plans (IEP), consult with educational teams and advocate at IEP meetings. Jean offers services to students in her office in Kensington, in schools and, as requested, in a student’s home.

Jean earned a Bachelor’s degree in Severe Special Needs from Boston College and a Master’s degree in Special Education from University of Maryland, College Park.
